Secret knitting

Faith (one of my South Bend Knitworks friends) is pregnant! So, what does that mean?

Secret Group Knitting, of course! (Which is part of the reason why this blog has been so quiet… it was a secret, afterall!)

Out of Faith’s sight and hearing, we conspired to knit her a couple fabulous baby gifts, including:

…a striped baby blanket! (Ravelry link) We all used the same yarn (KnitPicks Shine Worsted), tried to match gauge the best we could, and chose our own stitch patterns. Mine is the green checkerboard stripe in the middle. A crocheted border will eventually be added.

…a garden mice mobile! (Ravelry link) Each person took on one or more pieces on the mobile. I knit two of the flowers (the purple one and the turquoise one).

I think both of these gifts turned out well. Unfortunately, I had to miss the unveiling of these gifts, so I couldn’t see Faith’s reaction when she opened them. I’ve been assured, though, that she and her husband love them. Good job, South Bend Knitwork girls!

Congratulations to Faith! I’ve never seen a knitted mobile before — what a clever gift! The knitted blanket is really perfect too.
