Frantically knitting

I’m a frantic knitter these days.

Why? Well, you know how I’ve been knitting the Big Bad Baby Blanket for a friend? Stupid me kept thinking I had until her due date… never once thinking I might want to have the blanket finished in time for her baby shower, even though I offered to help host it!

Yeah. That’s me.

So here I was, thinking I had all the way until April to finish this gift, when in actuality I need to be shooting for mid-February. Luckily, progress is moving pretty quickly.

Let’s hope The World’s Slowest Knitter is able to meet this new deadline!

In the mean time, I’ll enjoy this craftily-worded haiku that features a photo of Lily. (Silly Lily is famous!)

So we’re both in frantic-baby-blanket-knitting mode. I do have about 2 more weeks than you do though. But babies don’t pay attention to due dates, so I should probably aim for mid-Feb as well!]

I’ve been meaning to email you for weeks. WE NEED TO TALK. :)

Hmmm – it could be worse. At least you have a few weeks left. But honestly, I wouldn’t worry about giving it to her at the shower. Maybe wrap up a swatch and use it as a teaser…

Nothing beats the lateness with which one of my husband’s cousins received her baby blanket. Grandma started working on it while the mom was pregnant and because of her arthritis, it took several years. She passed away before it was done and I volunteered to finish it. I believe the kiddo was nearly 4. (I figured it was a pretty good deal, I got to keep the book of patterns from the 50′s, full of cute baby things. Some have gone out ot style, but some still work today.)

You can do it! It’s a great pattern.

Oh, that’s going to be a photo finish!! Good Luck!

I’ve made two of those blankets (in time for the actual baby), so I KNOW you can do it. :)
